Operation Dyess Kids

The base hosts an event that helps kids visualize what the parents go through when they deploy. This year they took on a Frozen theme and it was so well done. Each child received their own dog tags and military ID, which the boys thought was the coolest thing ever. They had a mission briefed to them and then proceeded to the various airplanes for their departure. It was such a fun way to spend a morning, but also SO relevant to our lives. They also had various groups from around base with displays for the kids to look at i.e. fire trucks, police dogs, security forces with guns, etc.

November Part 1

We play at the park as we walk to pick up Bryton in the afternoons.
The local art museum offers once a month craft lessons for the kids. You know I love those!
We attended the local Veteran's Day parade in Abilene.

Bryton received a trophy for participating in the tennis season from Coach Tom. He also was voted on by his team to receive the Sportsmanship trophy for the season. We were so proud of him!

Bryton got a medal for reaching a big goal in his AR points at school. He was so proud!

October Happenings

A school Fun Run 5K on a Saturday morning
 Bryton had a 1/2 birthday.
Cohen had green day/ dinosaur day at school and so we made him a fun shirt to wear!
C had some belly x-rays done to finally get things straightened out and get him feeling better.
 These two are best buddies!
We had a few playdates with friends who we were sad to see move away.
Scott gave wood working lessons and we had big kick ball tournaments at the park.

Cohen wore his boots specifically so he could splash in puddles!
 Rascal dug holes....lots of holes...
Our Sundays were spent on the tennis courts.
Scott and I attended the Air Force Ball.  Bryton snapped this quick picture for us before we left.

Scott's parents also came for a visit during October, but I somehow have no pictures of their visit :(

September Happenings

Cohen has developed a huge interest in writing and wants to practice his letters constantly.
We built a desk for the boys in the kitchen. Bryton uses it all the time to write and draw.
It was still 100+ degrees some days so C and I would go to the splash pad on his off days.
Rascal and Scott made it through 2 classes of puppy school.....and Scott felt like it was a waste of time :)
 Nerf bullets are everywhere!
We had a weekend getaway to Dallas to the Great Wolf Lodge and Bass Pro Shop.

4 year old Preschool

What a difference a year makes! Last year I had to pry C off of me until March to go into his class and this year on the first day of a new school in a new town he walks right in and waves....pure joy! He is growing up and I can hardly stand it! He goes MWF until noon and absolutely loves it! I am still soaking up every minute I have with him before he starts Kindergarten next year!

Second Grade

Second Grade!!! Can you believe it? Totally blows my mind! Bryton has a wonderful teacher and is really enjoying his class at his new school. The school is right outside of the base so we can walk to the school within 10 minutes. It is fabulous!
Scott was able to go in late for the first day of school so that we could all walk to school together. It was so fun and a great way to start off our day.
The school mascot is the jet so of course you have to have one out front. Bryton asked to take a picture under it on the first day of school :)

Summer comes to an end

We snuck in our first 3-D movie!
Bryton did Tennis camp at the youth center and LOVED it!
We tried out the As Seen On TV water balloons and they were a BUST....don't fall for it!
You guessed it....LAKE DAY! We found a lake to go to and got to enjoy a few different trips this year.
