the boat

As most of you know, Scott has been waiting to buy another boat since the day he sold his last one. It just couldn't happen fast enough. Over the winter, he found "the boat". Within 24 hours, we became boat owners again. He has been SO excited and ready to get out on the water! The temps here in CA are already in the 90's, so we are boat ready! On Saturday, we made a trip up to Lake Berryessa to make sure she was ready for the summer. After a few hiccups, we had a great day on the lake. Cohen was not a true fan of the experience until the very end, but Bryton LOVED it. It's going to be a fun summer!

Past few weeks

I haven't taken too many pictures over the last few weeks. We have just been doing our normal routine of preschool, library storytime, and therapy sessions for Cohen. Here are a few snapshots from the last couple of weeks!
We are SO fortunate to have amazing neighbors. The kids play together on a daily basis. The doorbell is constantly ringing and we love it!

Bryton got his pins removed from his arm last Monday and got a new cast! They x-rayed his arm to make sure the bone is healing properly and everything looks good. The process of getting the pins removed was insane, but we have that behind us! Hopefully this is our last cast and we can enjoy some pool time after May 13th!

We have been in a fort building mood lately :)

Cohen has been in a snuggle mood lately. He carries stuffed animals everywhere we go. We have a collection of 8 or 9 bears and dogs that travel from room to room. His favorite thing to do is share his drinks and food with them.

We go to library story time every Tuesday. Every other week they have a craft to go with the theme of the day. They boys made capes last week.

Monster Party

Bryton wanted to have Monster Bash for his birthday party this year...but only good monsters, not the bad kind! His main request was having the game pin the eyeball on the monster. We decided to have a small lunch play date style party for a few of his friends. It turned out perfectly. Not too crazy but was just enough "party" for the birthday boy! I had lots of fun getting everything ready for it...who knew monsters could be such a fun theme! Enjoy the pictures!

The birthday boy with some of the decorations!

Pin the eye ball on the monster in action!

Picnic lunch in progress....we had to move indoors because of the crazy wind!

Daddy made a quick trip home to say hi!

We did a pull string pinata that Bryton and I made together. We went the pull string route after B broke his arm. He was also our centerpiece :)

Cupcake time!

Wish big :)

Birthday weekend

Bryton has been waiting all year for the day he gets to celebrate his birthday at school. We had a doctor's appointment for his arm the morning of his "school birthday", but I knew we HAD to go no matter what! We made it there in plenty of time to share our cupcakes we had made with his class. He was thrilled with his birthday crown that Miss Myung had waiting for him. I am so glad that day at school was all he had been hoping it would be.

For Bryton's real birthday we let him pick out all the things we would do for the day. We played at home all morning and then went bowling with our neighbors in the afternoon. After some bowling fun, everyone came back to our house for pizza and cookie cake. It was a low key and fun evening!

It is so hard to believe this little guy is FIVE already! I just love him to pieces!

Don't you love the cake stand...I told you it was low key :)

Easter

Our Easter Sunday didn't go as planned. Scott was scheduled to leave on a trip, so we got up to do our Easter fun before he left for the airport. The boys and I were going to head to church and then over to our neighbor's house for Easter lunch. Bryton fell while I was in the shower. Scott thought he dislocated his elbow, and thought I should head to the ER to get it check out. He got Cohen dressed for church and got him to the neighbor so I wouldn't have both boys in the ER. Scott headed to the airport. After we got the x-rays, the doctor called in the orthopedic surgeon in to take a look at his arm.  He had broken his humerus right above his elbow and was going to need to have pins put in it that afternoon in order to set it. Scott turned around from the airport to be with us and we spent the day at the hospital. We let Bryton's breakfast settle for 8 hours (he had JUST eaten when he fell) and they took him back to surgery. He woke up with a new red cast! Everything worked out and we were home later that evening. Bryton was such a trooper! He took a few days to adjust to doing things with his left hand, but he has gotten the hang of it!

We have no cute Easter pictures this year, but we have one good story to tell for Easter of 2013 :)

We went back a week later and they checked the pins. Everything was in place and healing properly so he got his second cast. We will go back on the 22nd to get the pins removed and to have his third cast put on for three more weeks. Hopefully after that he will be on his way to having a fully functioning arm again!

We got up and checked out our Easter basket goodies and had a little Easter Egg hunt in the living room.

Of course, I tried to get a picture of them together. We all ate a little breakfast and headed upstairs to get ready for church...and then it all went down hill from there!

Here he is waking up after surgery.  He was such a trooper! Poor kid was more concerned with having to spend the night away from home than anything else that day, luckily the doctor gave in and let us come home to sleep that night :)

March craziness

Wow, I had no idea I hadn't blogged since February!  I guess that tells you how busy life has been around our house. This post is going to be a bunch of randomness to get me caught up...so hang on tight and enjoy the pictures :)

Cohen just finished up another 10 week session of his speech/language play group. He loves it! Each week he sits in circle time for a little bit longer and participates a little bit more. In the last few weeks, he has started to try to sing a few of the songs that we do every week. Its amazing how much progress he has made in the last 2 months!

Bryton got real excited about St. Patrick's Day this year.

Stickers are Cohen's favorite "craft" right now.

Rainbows and pots of gold were a favorite for a few weeks in March.

We took a trip to Sacramento to visit the zoo. Look at these crazy boys!

Cohen loved watching the giraffes...and climbing the fence!
Cohen thought he would get in on making the rainbows out of cereal...I am not sure if he ate more or glued more!
Bryton made an awesome Leprephan trap this year. I didn't get a picture of the finished product, but it had a ladder and everything. He was pretty bummed he didn't catch the little guy, but since he got some chocolate coins out of the deal he was okay. I love his imagination :)
Our neighbor gave him this fancy hat :)
Cohen goes where ever his brother goes...
